ONGC says made six oil, gas discoveries in Nov

NEW DELHI - State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. made six oil and
natural gas discoveries in November, a company release said late Saturday.
These include three new prospects and three in new pool finds in earlier
established fields.
The three new prospects, all in offshore blocks awarded to ONGC under
petroleum exploration licence, include one oil and two gas discoveries.
The company said ONGC's well D-1 14 in Western Offshore Basin flowed oil
at a rate of 136.8 cu m per day.
"This discovery has opened up a large area for further exploration," the
company said in the release.
The well, B-55-5, also in Western Offshore Basin, flowed natural gas at
82,238 cu m per day.
The third new discovery was in a shallow water block in eastern offshore.
The well, GS-48-1, flowed 82,243 cu m per day of natural gas and 5.76 cu m
condensate.
"This discovery has opened up areas to the east of GS-KW/GS-23 fields for
exploration of Matsypuri Formation in Krishna-Godavari shallow offshore
areas," ONGC said.
The new pool discoveries were made at CT-2 well in Chinnewala Tibba,
Rajasthan, GS-KW-5 well in GS-15/23 shallow offshore block in Krishna-Godavari
Basin and PSP-40 well in Tatipaka-Pasarlpudi, onland KG Basin.
Thursday, shares of ONGC closed at 1,190.50 rupees on the National Stock
Exchange, up 0.85% from the previous close. End
