| Mkts end near day's high; Nifty closes above 2900
Expectations of the US stimulus package later on Monday lifted sentiment. Metals, consumer durables and oil & gas stocks spearheaded the rally.
Market undeterred by FY09 GDP estimate at 7.1%
The market remained firm even after the government estimated that India's economy would expand at 7.1 per cent in fiscal 2008/09.
Promoters continue to pledge shares
